CONFIDENT AUSSIES CRUSHES NERVOUS PROTEAS

South Africans were intimidated by mighty Aussies. Only right thing they did was winning the toss and batting first. Instead of showing positive intent they showed desperation. I think they have misunderstood aggression for rashness. The manner in which Smith and Kallis had lost their wickets was indication of that fact.

The result of this match was known in first 10 overs. Mentally South Africans were not there in the match. South Africans had already lost the battle in their mind. Only Gibbs played positively for Proteas. One should play the ball on the merit not on the reputation of opposition bowlers. I think batsmen once they saw the sight of McGrath running in they are intimidated by him. They were playing into him. This is not only the case with South Africans but with most of the teams. Similarly when bowlers run into bowl against likes of Hayden and Ponting they started spraying on both sides of the wicket.

Meanwhile one should not forget the bowling efforts of Aussies. Tait, McGrath and Bracken formed good pace bowling attack with Hogg’s decent spin bowling. Throughout this tournament they were exemplary including this one-sided semi-final. Though this bowling attack is not threatening as McGrath, Gillespie, Lee and Warne they still have enough firepower.

Finally Australian batsmen finished the formalities in 32 overs with 7 wickets in hand, though they would have liked to finish the match a bit earlier. Aussie juggernaut will face Lankan Lions on April 28 at Barbados to decide the World Champion.
