India Crush Bangladesh 2-0

India beat Bangladesh by ten wickets in the second Test at Mirpur to seal the series 2-0.

Scorecard: India vs Bangladesh, 2nd Test, Mirpur, 2010.

Scorecard: India vs Bangladesh, 1st Test, Chittagong, 2010.

Bangla Boys Surprised India

Indian batsmen were rattled by two Bangla bowlers in the first innings of first Test. Shahadat Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan picked five wickets each to bundle out India for paltry 243 in the first innings. They might have provoked by Sehwag’s comments previous day to do well. But their spirited effort was nullified by their inept batting display in the first innings. Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim applied themselves and batted beautifully. They put their top-order batsmen to shame.

Mohammad Ashraful Continues to Disappoint

Mohammad Ashraful continues to disappoint. He is a fine talent but never blossomed into a good batsman. It is time the Bangladesh Cricket Board gives some introspection on him.

Tamim Iqbal Sparkles

Tamim Iqbal scored a sparkling century in the second innings of second Test match. His century put his team in a position to stretch Indians and gave some jitters to their injury struck team. But Zaheer’s fine performance nipped such a scenario and helped India win by ten wickets.

The performances of the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shahadat Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan suggest that they have the talent. Only it is matter of self-belief and consistency to excel at highest level. Competitive domestic circuit can help them. BCCI can help Bangladesh Cricket by allowing their team to participate in their domestic tournaments like Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy. Previously they have allowed them to play Duleep Trophy. I don’t know what happened to this practice. This gesture will only put BCCI in good light. Will they do it?
