INDIA SCORES A MASSIVE WIN AGAINST AUSTRALIA AT MOHALI

India trounced Aussies by 320 runs in the second Test match at Mohali and leads the 4 match series 1-0. The Indians outplayed Australians in all departments of the game. As a continuing trend (only the victory against Lankans at Galle being the exception, where Sehwag’s brilliance had got through them), Indians get this victory by all-round effort with contributions form all members.

Scorecard: India vs Australia, II Test, Mohali, 2008.

Mishra and Ishant Sizzles
Ishant has made Ricky Ponting, his IPL team-mate, his bunny. Ishant Sharma though not picking any five-for, is always making the crucial break-troughs for the team. Mishra emulated the current national selector Narendra Hirwani by picking five-for in his debut match itself and becoming the fourth Indian spinner to do so. I hope he is not lost like Hirwani, but become successful as his regular Test captain Kumble. Ironically he may make his way out for the next match for his captain to come back into the side. Harbhajan and Zaheer also bowled very well.

Excellent Batting by Indians
All the Indian batsmen batted positively. Sehwag and Gambhir gave rollicking start in both the innings. Gambhir got his first ton against World Champions Australia and hopefully this will be beginning for many more to come. Sachin and Ganguly steadied the batting after the dismissals of Rahul, Gambhir and Laxman in quick succession. They both played positively and got India into a safe position. The partnership between Ganguly and Dhoni put India into a comfortable position form safe position. Ganguly scored his second ton against Aussies and his 16th overall. Dhoni, first time in his Test career, has made a sizeable contribution to India’s victory though he had played some match-saving knocks. He followed up his 92 in first innings with another super knock in the second innings. He had rightly promoted himself to one drop in the second innings in search of quick runs.

Sachin Becomes Highest Run-Getter
Congratulations to Sachin for becoming the highest run-getter in Test Cricket by breaking Brian Lara’s record and also for becoming first person to score 12,000 runs in Test Cricket.

For Australians to come back into this series their pace battery need to fire and also their big guns Hayden and Ponting. Otherwise it will be Indians all the way.

I have never seen anything like Ishant v Ricky with any Indian bowler except Kumble vs Attapatu when marvan was just starting out.

Never have I seen an Indian bowler rising to the spoor this way....
