The third Test match between India and Australia held at Kotla, Delhi ended in a tame draw. India still leads the series 1-0 with one to go at Nagpur.
SCORECARD: India vs Australia, 3rd Test, Delhi, 2008
India, batting first, made a huge score of 613. But the bowlers and fielders failed to follow it up equally good performances. The catching was pathetic and bowling was not penetrative enough. All the top 5 Australian batsmen made more than fifty runs. India was handicapped by Jumbo’s absence for some part of this match due to a finger injury which ultimately ended his career.
Very Very Special Laxman
Laxman scored another century against his favorite opposition. He made his second double ton against Aussies. He followed that one with calming half-century in the second innings. He along with Sachin made sure that India did not face the ignominy of defeat after making over 600 runs in the first innings. This is the second time after Bangalore Test that they saved India from precarious position.
Fall of Wall
Fitness-wise Rahul Dravid can play for two more years. But he is awfully short of batting form. The dip in his form is so alarming. He has to come up with his typical match-winning innings in the next match otherwise all guns will be directed against him. It is a Do or Die situation for him.
- High - Debut to 2006 WI series
